Cat Walks Up To Woman In Parking Lot And Begs To Go Home With Her

It was a cold and windy day in Valdese, North Carolina when Avery Rogers clocked in for her shift at her family’s food truck, Lucky Dogs NC. She was prepared to serve delicious food to her customers when she noticed a small, furry animal across the parking lot.

“I didn’t know if she was a stray or feral or what the situation was,” Rogers said. Eventually, Rogers realized that the animal was a cat, and she was inching closer to the truck.

Customers confirmed that the cat was indeed a stray, and after a while, the cat started using parked cars as shelter. Rogers kept an eye on her and eventually offered her the only treat she had - a hot dog.

Unexpected Companionship

Although cats do not typically eat hot dogs, the hungry cat devoured it in just a few bites. The cat spent the rest of Rogers' shift hanging around the food truck. After her shift, Rogers walked up to the cat, fully prepared for her to run away. However, the cat walked right up to her and immediately snuggled in her new friend’s arms.

Rogers believed that the cat was left intentionally, as she appeared healthy and clean. She named the cat Blue after her food truck's most popular hot dog, the Bluetick Hound, and decided to take Blue home with her. She called her husband, who met them in the parking lot with a cat carrier.

New Beginnings

Before bringing Blue home, Rogers took her to the vet to check for a microchip. To her surprise, nothing came up, and the cat was officially hers. Blue got a clean bill of health at the vet and was estimated to be around 1 year old. She immediately settled into her new forever home.

Blue spends her days curled up on her favorite bed, still in the beginning stages of getting to know her cat siblings. Rogers knows that she'll soon fit right in. For now, Blue enjoys all the snuggles she can get.

“She’s 100 percent a lap cat,” Rogers said. “She just kind of lays around wherever we are.”

A Comforting Presence

Some might say that Rogers found Blue at the perfect time, but Rogers thinks it’s the other way around. Soon after finding Blue, one of Rogers’ childhood cats, Bentley, was given a prognosis of one to two days to live. Blue suddenly became an unexpected and much-needed source of comfort for Rogers.

“It’s a hard time, but she’s so cuddly,” Rogers said. “She showed up right when we needed her.”

This heartwarming story showcases the beauty of unexpected companionship and the power of love. Avery Rogers' act of kindness towards a stray cat resulted in her gaining a loving pet and an unexpected source of comfort during a difficult time. Rogers showed us that sometimes, when we least expect it, we can find love in the most unusual places.
